Lady Antebellums Hillary Scott Opens Up About Her Miscarriage

Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum revealed that she suffered a miscarriage last year, and opened up about how she coped with the tragic loss by channeling the pain into her new music.

“Last fall, I went through a miscarriage,” she said tearfully on Good Morning America on Monday, June 20. “This is something that is not talked about very often. I also feel like there’s this pressure that you’re supposed to be able to snap your fingers and continue to walk through life like it never happened.”

The country group’s leading lady, 30, who shares a 2-year-old daughter, Eisele Kaye, with her husband, Chris Tyrrell, said she recorded an album with her family to get through the tough time. Tyrrell is the drummer for the country music band Love and Theft, and the pair met during Tim McGraw’s Southern Voice tour in 2010. They tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in upstate New York in January 2012.

Scott said she wrote the first single off the new family album, Love Remains (out July 29), about her heartbreak. “I wrote the song in the middle of experiencing everything that comes with the miscarriage so it was my most raw place that I could’ve ever been when this song truly poured out of me,” she said of the track, “Thy Will.”

The miscarriage made the “Need You Now” singer treasure time with her daughter even more. “I’m a different mom to her now,” she said. “I hug her a lot tighter.”

Last month, Scott teased on Instagram that Eisele may be making a special appearance in the “Thy Will” music video. “Today was special, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you! #thywill #staytuned #eiselekaye,” she captioned an adorable photo of the mother-daughter duo wading in a stream.

This summer, the country star is hitting the road to tour with Lady Antebellum. “After going through everything that I’ve gone through in the past year, but also just the process of making this record, I know I’m coming back into the mindset of Lady Antebellum,” she told GMA. “I’m very grateful.”
