Sing it, girl! Kate Hudson showed off her impressive singing skills with a performance of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” at mom Goldie Hawn’s Love in for Kids charity event on Friday, May 6.
The Bride Wars actress, 37, shared a clip of the touching moment from the Beverly Hills affair on Instagram. In the video, she is pictured wearing a one-shoulder black dress as she belts out the tune on stage.
Chelsea Handler, Paula Abdul, Nicole Richie, Sylvester Stallone and Boy George also attended Hawn’s star-studded benefit, where Hudson gushed to Us of her Academy Award–winning mother, “She is my great confidante, she is my best.”
“Nothing Compares 2 U” was originally written and composed by Prince, but it was made famous by Sinéad O’Connor in 1990. The late “Purple Rain” singer, who died on April 21 at age 57, frequently performed his version of the track at his concerts.
Prince’s family announced on Friday that they’re currently planning a memorial service that will “take place in the near future.”
“We would like everyone to know that, contrary to previous and current reports, there has been no memorial, funeral or tribute service for Prince that was organized or authorized by the family or Paisley Park representatives,” the music icon’s siblings said in a statement.

The investigation into Prince’s cause of death is still ongoing. Autopsy results are expected to be released in late May.
